On one of the Kiev hills there is a park with two old water towers that are more than 130 years old. In one of the towers there is the Museum of Water that was built in 2003, after the restoration of the tower.
Nowadays, the Water Museum is considered to be one of the most popular museums in Kiev. There are always long lines of visitors who want to get to the museum. The official name of the institution is "Water Information Center". The main objective of the museum is to give detailed information about the hydrosphere and water supply in Ukraine.
All expositions are located underground, where you can get only in the elevator. The guide will tell you how Kiev was supplied with drinking water in ancient times, how much it cost, and how the first water line was built. Moreover, you will find out how the river water is cleaned before it gets into our houses where we drink it, as well as what factors can affect the water on the way to our kitchens or bathrooms.
Most of the museum exhibits are dynamic, for example, there is a bathroom where the water flows all the time. A full bath and a full sink demonstrate an irrational use of water. This museum is one of the most interesting places for children. They can take little spades and make a sand-bed river. And one of the favorite moments of all children and their parents is blowing giant soap bubbles. All visitors can participate in this exciting attraction and spend a few seconds inside a giant bubble.
