Communicative games in the classroom
Game: “Smart and Brilliant"
Type: Communicative
Skills practised: Reading, Speaking, Listening
Level: Beginner+ (adaptable for all level of students)
Time: Flexible.
Objective: Students will develop their intensive reading sub-skills.
Aim: to answer the questions of the rival team.
Materials: a text for reading,slips of paper.
THE STAGES:
Before the game get students to read the text quickly (give them any task for gist reading)
STAGE 1: Students are divided into 2 teams. Each team prepares a set of questions to the text for their rival team.
STAGE2: Students discuss their own questions in their groups
STAGE3: Groups exchange the questions. Students discuss the questions of their opponents.
STAGE4: 4.Students put the questions in a pile face down. Then they pick a card with a question and answer it without referring to the text. Every correct answer gets a point, if the answer is not complete students get half a point. The team with more points for the answers will be the winner
